Stacy De Groot is a visual design and word artist living in the Arts District of DTLA. Her poetry appears in several online and print publications while her visual art is beginning to appear in exhibitions. Her work is often emotionally evocative and intellectually provocative, exploring the contextual aspects of imagery while challenging traditional structures of understanding with poetic applications of psychological inference, philosophical implication and religious reference. Sometimes displaying an abrupt and unexpected preference for play, masked with an intentionally pretentious esoteric vernacular, her work works to expose perception as illusion while paradoxically affirming the surrealists quest to arrive at a personal awareness of all that is real.
As a free lance lifestyle photographer for 8 years, Stacy aims to document life in images, capturing appearances and preserving moments as relics of memory before they disappear, unnoticed and uncelebrated, into the ever changing landscapes of time. Stacy specializes in lifestyle and children's portraiture, as well corporate and private event photography.
Stacy is currently working as an independent creative strategy consultant.
With an academic background in cultural theory and communications, careers in marketing management and photography, and experience as a visual design and word artist herself, Stacy brings a diverse and unique skill set to table of creative pursuits. Founder and Director of Fulcrum Road, a creative strategy consulting firm, and WordArtLA, an online arts & culture magazine, Stacy uniquely aspires to bridge the arts and industry in order to symbiotically promote shared interests and values, in order to optimize benefits to both individuals and popular culture.
